About the Chris Reeve Knives| Large Sebenza 31 – Natural Canvas Micarta Inlay – Drop Point
Sebenza means “work” in Zulu and these knives are intended to do just that. Built with handcrafted care at a production level, the Sebenza 31 has earned a worldwide reputation for rock-solid performance and a ‘bank vault’ feel. Offered with a CPM-S35VN hollow-ground blade at a 59-60HRC, the Sebenza 31’s blade will retain a sharp edge with easy maintenance. The Sebenza 31 uses the Reeve Integral Lock, which is a lock bar integral to the back handle. Pre-bending at the end of the slot causes the spring to move to the base of the blade, thereby locking the blade open. It was a revolutionary design 31 years ago and through numerous refinements over the years, this is the best Sebenza created thus far.
Bridging the gap between hi-tech titanium and the organic feel of natural material is the Sebenza 31 with inlay. Available with a choice of woods, each piece fits exactly into one of three pockets machined into the handle — two on the front and one on the back. For those who prefer all hi-tech, they also offer inlays of black or natural canvas Micarta.
The fit of the inlay into the pocket is to extremely tight tolerance and the sections are retained with VHB (very high bonding) double-sided tape. The inlays give a contoured feel to the handle and are as attractive as they are functional. A polished S35VN blade and satin finish titanium handles enhance the wood inlay Sebenza 31 with wood, tumbled blade and sandblasted handle complete those with Micarta. A gold or silver thumb lug, lanyard tie, and spacer are chosen to coordinate with the color of the inlay.
